Water

The City of Ocean Springs has maintained a perfect score of 5.0 on our overall water system rating from the Mississippi Department of Health for the past 13 years. The rating is based on technical, managerial, and financial assessment.

The City maintains several 500,000-gallon elevated water tanks and six water wells with an average depth of 800 feet below the surface. Five of these wells draw water directly from the Graham Ferry Formation; the sixth draws its water from the Pascagoula Formation. These wells pull 7,000 gallons per minute from below ground.
