Full-Time Employment

To be considered for full-time employment with Ocean Springs Police Department (OSPD), complete and submit your Online Application for Employment with OSPD to the City's Human Resources Department. Within a few days, we will email you information on required Civil Service testing. You must respond to the Civil Service email to confirm testing.

NOTE: Candidates for lateral employment as a full-time certified police officer from one law enforcement agency to the OSPD are exempt from the physical agility test ONLY if there is no lapse in certification AND the certification is with the State of Mississippi. The written test is required for all applicants regardless of certification.

Pay rates listed are effective as of 07/08/2023.

OSPD Police Officer
Step One is $19.50/hour ($45,474 annual for 2184 hours plus holiday pay) for entry level or fewer than 12 months of FT sworn law enforcement experience.
Step Two is $21.00/hour ($48,972 annual for 2184 hours plus holiday pay) for 13-24 months FT sworn law enforcement experience.
Step Three is $22.50/hour ($52,470 annual for 2184 hours plus holiday pay) for more than two years of FT sworn law enforcement experience.
Steps Four and above are 3% annual.

OSPD Dispatcher
Starting Pay Rate: $14.50/hour
Experienced = Training and experience will be evaluated to determine salary.

Part-Time Employment
