Function is about process, planning and procedure. Long-term planning, transportation, and economic development are majority of commissioner duties. No involvement with day-to-day staff operations, more general oversight as needed.
Examples of service/projects: transit routes, van pooling for places like chevron, Stennis and Ingalls, demand response (door to door service for dr. visits), and emergency management (evacuations). Have also funded beach comfort stations from Biloxi to Long Beach, the new transit/pedestrian overpass from Jones Park to aquarium, MS Power provided electric bus in Gulfport.
